SOMA stands for Self Osteo Myofascial Applications. That sounds like a huge mouthful of words, but what does it mean? Osteo refers to bone and myofascial to soft tissue, i.e., muscle. The whole body is surrounded in fascia – your muscles, bones, nerves etc. When fascia becomes unhealthy (dry or dehydrated), it restricts movement, causes pain or stiffness, and this creates issues with everyday movement through the four moving joints of our body – shoulders, hips, knees and ankles. I will teach you science-based techniques that will improve the quality of your fascia so you will move and feel better. Not only will you gain knowledge of the techniques, you will be able to apply them in the comfort of your own home. SOMA empowers you to have a better quality of life.
These are the things that impact on our everyday quality of life. Not only that, but with age our posture is also affected. Life becomes more difficult, challenging and doing the simplest task sometimes end in an injury.
In my Stretch Compress Release class, I will teach you the correct techniques of Stretches, how to Compress those areas of discomfort around muscle and joints. You will improve the quality of your movement so you will move and feel better.
Class is 60 minutes and ideal for all ages and fitness levels. Wednesdays @ 6.30pm.
